Women's T20 World Cup 2026: Scotland and Ireland qualify for summer event in England

Scotland and Ireland have qualified for this summer's Women's T20 World Cup after comprehensive victories.

The two countries have been playing in Nepal over the last fortnight in a qualification tournament to secure slots in the T20 World Cup which takes place from June 12 to July 5 in England, live on Your Site.

They both came through the group stages to make the Super Six, with the top four from the Super Six qualifying for the World Cup, but required wins in their last game on Sunday to join Bangladesh and the Netherlands who had already qualified.

Ireland beat Thailand by 62 runs to qualify for a fifth time, having failed last time out in 2024.

Openers Gaby Lewis and Amy Hunter got Ireland off to a solid start with 24 and 25 runs respectively with Orla Prendergast adding 24 more as Ireland set a target of 121.

Arlene Kelly, who celebrated her 100th cap, did the damage with the ball with 4-7, including two wickets in two balls.

Scotland saw off the USA by 41 runs as Darcey Carter's 52 runs, Ailsa Lister's 43 and Priyanaz Chatterji's 32 scores helped them on their way to 178.

USA never looked like threatening that target as Kathryn Bryce, Priyanaz Chatterji, Rachel Slatter and Chloe Abel all took two wickets each.

It is just the second time Scotland have qualified for the T20 World Cup, having made their first appearance two years ago.
